For many years there have existed informal agreements by which online courses, offered at the Columbus campus or one of the Ohio State Regional campuses, can be shared with students on other OSU campuses.

In the Fall of 2022, the Cross-Campus Virtual Collaborative (CVC) CourseShare Program launched as a pilot, led by former Mansfield campus Dean and Director and current Vice Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Education, Dr. Norman Jones, and supported by the ASC Office of Distance Education.

The goal of this pilot program was to develop a transparent and straightforward process by which online courses can be shared across OSU campuses, equitably distribute the costs of instruction, and provide pathways for OSU students on all campuses to enroll in a collection of online courses not taught on their home campus. This successful pilot year demonstrated the viability of cross-campus coursesharing and supported the continuation of this program into the 23-24 academic year.

The CVC CourseShare Program is organized on an "opt-in" basis by which collaborating stakeholders, regional campus leaders, and Columbus campus department leaders review courses nominated for participation and approve course offerings for each campus.
