Course Recording and Proctoring Waiver for Minor Students

Beginning in SP 24, prior to the start of each term, a notice will be sent to instructors concerning a requirement that students under the age of 18 who will be recorded as part of regular classes proceedings complete a waiver. This notification and clarification around recording and proctoring technology use with minors is a new measure being taken to better comply with a long-standing federal policy that minors may not consent to be recorded or accept terms of use on their own behalf.
As such, guardians of minor students have been asked to sign a waiver included in the students’ welcome packet. These notices to instructors about those who do not have a waiver will be included in regular start-of-term communications so that instructors can make appropriate adjustments when needed.
